Armchair travelers can now enjoy the architecture and beauty of Greece in the comfort of their own home thanks to Google Street View, a growing data base of interactive images. Until now, the program couldn’t be offered due to the Greek government’s objections propelled by privacy concerns. Hitches were resolved this summer after Google agreed to use blurring technology to obscure details like people’s faces and license plates.
“We have demonstrated that it does work in 55 other countries, and we safeguard the right of Internet users to report any complaints,” said Google’s Greek public policy manager Dionysis Kolokotsas.

Here are a few of the Google Map Street View images that are part of an all-growing and all-encompassing collection of Greece’s landmarks. Using the program, the virtual traveler can click in any direction to zoom in or turn corners.
