Greek Foreign Ministry issues demarche to Turkish Ambassador to Athens

Turkish Ambassador to Athens Kerim Uras was informed of Greek displeasure regarding Turkish violation of the EEZ of Cyprus

Foreign Ministry Secretary General, Ambassador Anastassis Mitsialis called the Turkish Ambassador to Athens, Kerim Uras, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to issue a demarche regarding the issuing of the illegal Turkish NAVTEX for the carrying out of exploration by the Turkish seismographic research vessel Barbaros in areas of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Republic of Cyprus. The demarche, issued on the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Evangelos Venizelos, was to let Turkey know that such actions in the region serve to cause tension.
