Environment, Energy & Climate Change Minister Yiannis Maniatis announced on Friday a plan aiming to attract an estimated 10 million medical practitioners worldwide as tourists to the Peloponnese and the island of Kos.
During his speech at an international meeting hosted by the Piraeus Group Cultural Foundation that focused on issues of museum education, culture and natural environment, Mr. Maniatis outlined a plan, which aims to highlight the elements of well-being, medical science, culture, nature and biodiversity in the Argolid region of Stymfalia, near ancient Epidaurus, and the island of Kos, located in the southeastern Aegean.
Addressing the meeting that was also attended by the Republic President Karolos Papoulias, the Environment Minister said: “We want to reach the approximately 10 million medical doctors worldwide and the hundreds of thousands of medical school graduates, who take the Hippocratic Oath every year, by promoting Kos and Epidaurus as the places where the western medicine has originated.”
