A Greek delegation met yesterday with the head of IMF, Christine Lagarde, in Washington DC to continue the discussion on the new agreement to put into force when the current Greek program ends.
“We have concluded to the framework of the new program and we now discuss on the terms of the next agreement,” said a government official to protothema.gr suggesting that the terms should allow the Greek government to handle internal issues, so as to be able to claim the presidential majority next February.
Even though the government managed to receive the vote of confidence on Friday night, it seems that it has not gained the power it wanted, since it received only the expected votes. However, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras can show to our European and international lenders that he has ensured the government stability and he can control the developments of internal issues. So, the next few months until February, the efforts will be focused on the negotiation with the lenders, while government will try to present the new agreement as a required development.
