Athens Airport capitalizes on renewed interest in the Parthenon Marbles (videos+photos)

The AIA exploits Amal's recent visit to present an application calling tourists to share their views on the Parthenon Marbles while old TV spoofs are remembered and go viral again years after they were first created

Newsroom October 24 10:15

Athens International Airport (AIA) is launching a new application that allows visitors to have their say on the Parthenon marbles dispute between Greece and Britain. The new application will appear at screens throughout the airport from November 19. Visitors will piece together a puzzle of the Parthenon frieze and “install” the sixth missing Caryatid figure to her original place of origin from the British Museum. At the end of this exercise visitors are asked whether they believe that the Parthenon Marbles should be returned to Greece.

The AIA’s application comes at a time when there is renewed interest in the Parthenon Marbles, especially after humanitarian lawyer Amal Alamuddin Clooney’s visit to Greece. Interest has been so great that an old spoof television news report in which the Big Ben clock is stolen by a Greek millionaire in a tit-for-tat gesture has gone viral years after it was first created.
