Government uneasiness is evident in negotiations with the troika of Greece’s international creditors from the European Commission (EC), European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). There is discomfort due to the troika’s “delaying tactics” says the government. A government source stated that the same tactics were used in February 2014. On its part, the government sent answers concerning 19 points that had been requested by the troika on Thursday.

Thorns in negotiations concern a fiscal deficit at 2.5 billion for 2015, as well as changes to employment and social security that the troika has called for as well as the liberalization of auctions for first homes. Other open matters concern regulations for public dismissals, the new public sector income chart and changes to VAT. These are matters that will be discussed when the troika comes to Greece.

The completion of the Greek evaluation is expected during the Eurogroup meeting on December 8. “We are doing everything we can to reduce the debt when others are doing everything they can to return the country to forced lending,” said Prime Minister Antonis Samaras in his article in newspaper Kathimerini on Sunday, titled “The next day: A reform jump into tomorrow.” He also said political and economic stability are the main aim in order to continue with reforms and the final exit from the economic crisis.

Problems within the government, however, due to the troika’s intervention were noted during changes that were made to the regulations concerning overdue debts paid in 100 installments where the joint property ENFIA tax was excluded shortly after the new measures were announced.
