13 dead from the severe weather in US

Snow reached the 1.8 meters

Newsroom November 21 08:35

Due to the  fierce blizzard that has swept the area of Buffalo in the US Northeast 13 people have lost their lives, while authorities fear of flooding once the show starts to melt.

Among the victims, two elderly people have lost their lives in an attempt to move away from their home since the roof was about to collapse.

The height of the snow reached the 1.8 meters which is considered too much for all at once.

According to the Mayor already 30.000 tons of snow have been cleared up.

Despite the fact that there was a small recession of the phenomena, traffic on certain roads remained closed and authorities warned of dangers, while asked people to remain in their homes and to respect the prohibitions and not drive in order to help to pave roads.

And all this while the mercury is expected to climb Saturday and Sunday with  temperature rising from 2 degrees Celsius to 11 degrees on Saturday and 15.5 degrees on Sunday, intensifying the fears of floods due to show melting.

Indicative of the situation is the fact that during the blizzard some drivers remained trapped in their cars for two days.

At least 30 roofs collapsed under the weight of snow, resulting in dozens of families deserting their homes.

Among the dead, many people died of cardiac arrest as they tried to remove the snow that was in front of their home with shovels or snow machines, which the authorities advise to be avoided by older people.
