Amphipolis: The world holds its breath in anticipation of Peristeri’s speech tomorrow

Dozens of foreign journalists and television crews will travel to Greece to cover the presentation of the findings

Newsroom November 28 12:16

The telephones in the Greek Ministry of Culture haven’t stopped ringing for the past few days, in anticipation of the new announcements on Amphipolis dig.

Hundreds of scientists, archaeology students and plain civilians are requesting permission to attend the presentation and hear the speeches of Ms. Katerina Peristeri, head of 28th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, architect Michael Lefantzis and civil engineer, D. Englezos.

Foreign media have also expressed huge interest in the presentation. In fact, dozens journalists will travel to Greece to cover the event, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 11 am in the Auditorium of the Ministry, in the presence of all the archaeologists that participated in the dig.

It should be noted that this is the first comprehensive briefing on the entire course of the research, three months after the archaeologists first entered the ancient tomb.

The event will be moderated by Vasilis Lambrinoudakis, Professor emeritus of Classical Archaeology, University of Athens, and Nikos Stambolidis, archaeologist and director of the Museum of Cycladic Art.
