GoEuro.co.uk has ranked Athens among the World’s 15 most affordable cities worldwide for a property rented through the popular Airbnb platform, based on an accommodation price index compiled by the travel metasearch engine.

According to the index, that is covering 150 cities and over 60,000 properties, including home rentals, hotels and even hostels, an increasing number of travelers in Greece are now favoring the unique experience and personal charm of staying in shared accommodation over traditional hotels.

GoEuro ranks cities based on the prices they offer for Airbnb rental homes, 5 star hotels, 1-4 star hotels and hostels. Interestingly enough, a Greek destination was also included in the list of the most affordable hostels in the world: Crete was ranked 17th.

Based on the GoEuro data, New York is the most expensive city overall, while Tirana, Albania is the cheapest.
