A huge counter-terrorism operation taking place near Corinth, is underway.

Specifically, in Perachora of Loutraki which 22 year old C. Xiros’ girlfriend had rented, a stolen van and a jeep were found. Allegedly, the terrorist planned to use them to carry out his attack on Korydallos prison.

Police estimate that C. Xiros and his team would use these vehicles for the big hit that they planned against Korydallos prison, to help release the members of “Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire”.

Apart from the two vehicles, sacks of ammonium nitrate and Tupperware with cables were found. To ensure that the place is not booby-trapped, an EOD team is scouring the building and the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, C. Xiros was transferred to Korydallos after facing the investigator.

In a statement, his lawyer Mr. Ragousis, inter alia, stated: “C. Xiros will be transferred to Korydallos. He neither assumes nor endorses any scenarios by the police that he was preparing a hit against Korydallos prison. The file is lacking evidence”.
