Socialist PASOK Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos appeared on MEGA channel’s news and made it clear that the socialist PASOK party is not a “government’s wildcard”. He did not rule out a vote of tolerance by the party’s MPs, stating that “when the parliamentary system works collaboratively rather than through the majority then it can morph into various shapes. A vote of tolerance means that you don’t participate in the government, in management or handling, but you can judge them in Parliament. ”
Furthermore, Mr. Venizelos described the polarization between the conservative New Democracy party and the main opposition Radical Coalition of the Left SYRIZA party as “blind”. He said that one side acts with a sense of intimidation and terrorism stating that “unless we continue everything will fall apart” and the other side shows a naive complacency by stating that “everything is fine and Europe awaits us”.
Mr. Venizelos explained that both scenarios of both sides are equally deceptive and dangerous.
The socialist leader also referred to the newly-formed movement of former PASOK prime minister George Papandreou and stressed that he did not understand the reason that drove Mr. Papandreou to abandon the party founded by his own father and to create a political entity.
