The outspoken leader of the right-of-center Independent Greeks (AN.EL) party on Saturday turned his barbs against both front-runners for Sunday’s election, accusing leftist SYRIZA and conservative ruling party ND of being “a college gang who sank our country”.
Speaking from the island of Rhodes, Panos Kammenos lashed out at those he said “… knelt and betrayed voters”. Conversely, in soothing words towards his local audience, he aired his party’s support for a reduction of the VAT rate on tourism services to 5%.
Kammenos also promised that policies geared towards island populations and regions are priorities for him.
The party appears entering Parliament (> 3% of the general vote) in some polls, but not in others. That question will be answered after roughly a day and a half.
