Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis returned to his old college “stomping grounds” in London on Monday for a meeting with Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne. The meeting that took place at Osborne’s Downing Street office and was reportedly held in a friendly atmosphere, even though the burning issue of Greek debt and overturning austerity were on the agenda.
According to Reuters, Osborne — whose country is favously … not in the euro zone –said after the meeting: “We had a constructive discussion, and it is clear that the stand-off between Greece and the euro zone is the greatest risk to the global economy. I urge the Greek finance minister to act responsibly but it’s also important that the euro zone has a better plan for jobs and growth.”
