Arriving at the Ecofin conference on Tuesday, Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis was asked what the next steps are for Greece. “The next step is the responsible step. Europe will continue to deliberate,” he said, adding that the outcome needs to be good for the average European. “We know in Europe how to negotiate in such a way as to create a very good solution, an honorable solution, out of initial disagreement.” He pointed to “investment” as the “main game” in Europe.
Asked what he was expecting from the Greek side, Eurogroup Chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem said he hoped Athens would ask for an extension of the bailout program. “That is the way forward, but it really is up to the Greeks,” he said.
