Stavros Theodorakis, the leader of the centrist Potami party, on Wednesday said he supports the efforts of the Greek government in its negotiations with the country’s eurozone creditors.

In his statements following a meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras Theodorakis said: “time is running short. We must be done with the unimportant stuff, and cut to the point: More jobs for everyone.”

According to the TV presenter turned politician, the fight against unemployment will play a crucial role in the Greek government’s efforts to revive the economy.

Theodorakis said he was briefed by Tsipras over Athens’ intent to submit a request for an extension of the current loan agreement, as well as plans to implement certain reforms.

“I hope that we will have good news today, but that depends on the proposals tabled by the government,” Theodorakis noted.

On his part, Tsipras said the government is “at the disposal of any political leader that wants to be briefed on the current developments” and added that these briefings must take place regularly.
