Although the European People’s Party may have greeted a deal between the Eurogroup and Greece, in a written announcement EPP president Manfred Mebert said “European taxpayers are not willing to pay Mr. Tsipras’ election promises … the announced Greek reform list cannot be yet another list of empty promises”.

“The Europeans will not hand a blank check to Mr. Alexis Tsipras, and the Greek Prime Minister and his government have four months to prove their willingness to continue the reform process, initiated by the previous Greek government”.
