Greek restaurant in Düsseldorf posts hate mail it received

Several German media, including Der Spiegel and Stern magazines and Rheinische Post newspaper have published reports condemning the unethical and racist hate mail.

Newsroom March 5 03:07

A Greek restaurant in Düsseldorf on Wednesday received an anonymous hate letter which characterized Greece as a “corrupt” and “rotten” country and claimed that all Greeks are lazy and living on the expense of other hard-working counties.

Moreover, the unknown author accused the Greek government of behaving like a “brazen mob of jerks with no manners” and the Greek people of “extorting other hard-working countries” in order to maintain their comfortable and carefree lifestyle.

“Pay taxes… why? Work… why? Laying in the sun is easier, especially when others have to pay for it”, said the racist letter, adding that “as long as the Greek government continues to ridicule and offend the hardworking and economical Europeans and Germans, we will no longer be buying anymore Greek products, nor will we be bringing our business to your establishment.”

The racist rant of the unknown writer ends with the following words: “Go back to your corrupt, rotten and totally useless country.”

In response to the insulting letter, the owner of the “Platon’s Restaurant,” Christina Maria Dora, posted a message on Facebook expressing her anger and disappointment over the cowardly “snail mail” attack.

“Our family runs the Restaurant Platon in Düsseldorf for 31 years. We live in Germany and feel connected to this country. We speak and write German and pay taxes like every citizen. We have created jobs and built a life her,” Ms. Dora wrote, adding that “it is a shame to feel unwelcome after 31 years.”

Several German media, including Der Spiegel and Stern magazines as well as the Rheinische Post newspaper published reports condemning the unethical and prejudiced hate mail.
