Alternate Environment Minister Yiannis Tsironis gave his support to the cration of ‘eco-tickets to help promote and raise recycling awareness on Monday during a meeting with Dimitris Niatsikas, a representative of the ‘Ecological Ticket’ initiative.
The idea is based on people paying for tickets to cultural events on recyclable materials such as aluminium cans, paper, glass or plastic, instead of cash.
“It’s a clever, zero-cost effort to raise public awareness about recycling and that’s the reason why we view it positively,” Tsironis said, welcoming the initiative. He urged for more similar initiatives to be taken “since protecting the environment is everyone’s business.”
