Yanis now regrets glitzy Paris Match photoshoot

He is saddened by the fact that Schaeuble didn't keep his word

Newsroom March 15 11:04

Yanis Varoufakis did not hide his displeasure over of German FinMin Schaeuble’s comment that he (Yanis) is “naïve” in dealing with the media, according to a interview on Sunday aired by a local television station.

Moreover, Varoufakis said Schaeuble did not keep his word over not publicizing their private talks after the last Eurogroup meeting.

He stated, however, that during the past month, they have had two long conversations in a very good climate.

At the same time, the Greek FinMin denied that his German counterpart told him that Germany would aid Greece if the latter exited the Euro.

On another “front” that Yanis created for himself, he said he was “regretful” over a photoshoot published in the latest edition of the glitzy French mag Paris Match: “I would like for that photoshoot to never have happened… I regret it. I am not fond of the style of these photos”.

He added, however, that the text that went along with the photos was very good, “portraying Greece positively in France”.

“We have not laid a finger on the pension funds”, he added, stating it was his idea to manage them.
