Varoufakis negotiates using lyrics of the Beatles

With lyrics of the song Can’t buy me love (Money can’t buy me love) replied the Greek Minister of Finance to the question whether Greece continues to ask for money

Newsroom March 17 11:58

In his interview to Italian television, the Greek Minister of Finance Yianis Varoufakis used lyrics of Beatles song to answer a question about whether Greece continues to ask for money.

“I don’t ask for money. What i ask for is  a more rational upgrade of the macroeconomic entire program in Europe and especially in Greece. Money, of course, is part of that request, but not everything. As Beatles sang “Money can’t buy me love”, said Mr. Varoufakis at the Italian channel La7 while using the song by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

Speaking generally about the European crisis, the Greek Minister of Finance estimated that “the people, the countries and the institutions are not the ones to blame”, but the Eurozone architecture.

At the same time Mr. Varoufakis stressed that he seeks “a more rational upgrade of the macroeconomic program throughout Europe and more particularly in Greece”.

“Europe was designed in the wrong way, but now we start making plans for a new design from scratch”, added the Greek Minister of Finance.

Among others, Mr. Varoufakis referred to the good hospitality of countries such as Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Finland and while asked if there is an Italian Varoufakis, he replied that “every person is unique and there are no replicas”.
