The 22-year-old woman arrested on Thursday after using a knife to lightly injure three fellow students at a vocational school in west Athens’ Rendi district was released on bail a day later.
The woman, who faces charges of intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession and use of a weapon, was taken to the prosecutor’s office earlier today and then to a nearby hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Her lawyer told protothema.gr that her client’s trial has been set for June 6.
On her way out of the prosecutors’ office, the young woman told reporters she has been going through a terrible ordeal during the last few months, claiming she resorted to the use of violence to deal wtih constant bullying by her fellow students, on account of her foreign background.
“I didn’t want to kill them, only to injure them,” she reportedly told the prosecutor, adding that this violent act seemed to her like the only solution to her problem.
