Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras issued a letter of congratulations to the New York City-based Greek daily National Herald for its centennial on Friday. He said that the National Herald, the second oldest Greek newspaper in the world and oldest outside the borders of Greece, “represents the voice of Hellenism in America and keeps the communication of Greeks abroad with every corner of Greece alive.”
The prime minister noted the paper’s key contribution to making Greeks abroad aware of issues related to Hellenism and on strengthening their cultural identity. He also took the opportunity to reassure Greeks abroad that the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) was continuously working for the economic revival of Greece and the improvement of the country’s quality of life while calling on all Greeks abroad to show solidarity for their homeland.
