Greek PM Alexis Tsipras spoke on the phone Sunday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Eurogroup head Jeroen Dijsselbloem, hours before a top government convened to focus on struggling negotiations with Greece’s institutional lenders.
Accodring to “government sources”, the essence of Tsipras’ conversation with Merkel was to keep up direct communication during the ongoing negotiations, in order to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
Talks with Dijsselbloem reportedly focused on immediately starting sessions of the so-called “Brussels Group”, while on Monday a tele-conference will take place ahead of an actual meeting on Wednesday.
The government meeting was chaired by Tsipras, and included FinMin Yanis Varoufakis, Dep. PM Yiannis Dragasakis and Economy Minister Giorgos Stathakis.
