Eurochange Express, a Facebook group, on Monday urged Greeks to take to the streets and rally against austerity on Wednesday at Syntagma Square. The protest rally, entitled “We take the negotiation into our hands – We knock down austerity” – is based on the premise that “nobody has the right to abolish the democratic right of people, of the entire society to decide on its future.”

The text for the event also says Greece’s lenders don’t have the right “to offend our dignity and try to annul people’s mandate to end austerity” and calls on similar protests around Greece. The rally has been called for 7.30 p.m.

One high-profile former SYRIZA MP, noted author Petros Tatsopoulous, ridiculed the latest pro-leftist government political rally with a post on his FB page.

The outspoken Tatsopoulos said that “Everybody be at Syntagma on Wednesday – We’re rallying in favor of the SYRIZA government and against the agreement (with creditors) that the (SYRIZA) government will sign. Sponsored by the Greek society for psycho-analysis”.
