Six students lost their lives when a balcony collapsed during a party. The death toll claimed three boys, aged 21, from Ireland, two girls of the same age from the same country, and a 22 year-old from California. The accident took place in Berkley university, California.

Seven more people were wounded, some of which grievously, when the balcony on the fourth floor dropped about 13 meters. According to eye witnesses, one person managed to jump back in the house at the time of collapse.
