The US are planning to fund a local Nigerian military group with 5 million USD to fight against the Boko Haram islamists.

Boko Haram managed to conquer more than 30,000 square kilometers last year alone, which is approximately the size of Belgium. Since then, the Islamist group has been pushed back slightly but have been killing innocent civilians non-stop, the most recent publicized event being that in Chad on Monday where they killed at least 27 people.
