The Bulgarian government, in charge of the poorest county in terms of GDP in the EU, and with average monthly wages much lower than those in crisis-stricken Greece, has offered to send …financial aid to Greece to help it keep afloat!
According to reports, Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov said his government would be ready to provide humanitarian aid to Greece, even if that meant cutting his domestic social benefits.
With Greece in a race against time to secure a deal with its creditor/partners of the EU before it defaults on its debts, Bloomberg reports that European leaders are examining all scenarios, including that of a Grexit and ways in which European countries could help ordinary citizens.
Of course, the Bulgarian government issues … lev and receives, still, a nice chunk of Bulgarian nationals’ remittances from Greece, but every “15 seconds” of fame amid the “Greek euro crisis saga” is well earned.
