She calls herself Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and she turned 19 on July 25. The eldest daughter of Crown Prince Pavlos (without a throne) and Crown Prince Marie-Chantal, ex-royalty of Greece, was born in 1996 in New York City.
She moved to London when she was seven so that she could see more of her grandparents, King Constantine and Queen Anne Marie. Together they were all one big royal family until the ex-king felt homesick and returned to the country that had ousted him in 2013. Pavlos and Marie-Chantal did not follow suit.
The young ‘princess’ has four other siblings – Prince Constantine-Alexios, Prince Achileas-Andreas, Prince Odysseas-Kimon and Prince Aristidis-Stavrls. Noteworthy is the fact that while they all have Greek names, they don’t know Greek. Nor is the royal family Greek, as their line, stretching back to King Otto is from Bavaria.
When asked about not speaking Greek, she told Tatler in 2014, “I wish I did!”
The young princess has noteworthy godparents, including Prince Charles. He took Maria-Olympia to see Shrek the Musical as a treat.
On Instagram, Maria-Olympia has 33,000 followers. She adores fashion and is rumored to have participated in a three-week internship in the couture department of Dior. She is becoming quite a trendsetter – sitting in the front row of fashion shows.
