Panagiotis Lafazanis leader of the leftist party Popular Unity, formed from radical left SYRIZA, attacked SYRIZA and Alexis Tsipras speaking at ANT1 TV channel arguing that “all past prime ministers behaved in an unacceptable way.”

“They put the interests of Europe and Germany over the interest of the Greek people,” he said.

Furthermore, referring to the SYRIZA’s left platform split, Mr. Lafazanis said that disagreements within the party were known for years, and the memorandum acceptance was just the peak point, “there was no way we could coexist,” he  said.

Mr. Lafazanis argued that his party is not a party of drachma stressing that “Our party has an integrated program and a progressive solution to get the country out of the crisis. We cannot move forward with austerity measures”.
