Popular Unity leader Panagiotis Lafazanis dubbed his former comrade and SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras ‘politically unreliable’, ruling out any possibility of a post election cooperation between his party and SYRIZA. During his cross-channel press conference, Lafazanis said the country is being led to a wide coalition government with SYRIZA and New Democracy at the core, and the parties of PASOK and To Potami playing the role of satellites, characterizing the situation a ‘nightmare’. He estimated that Popular Unity could win third spot in the elections, preventing extreme-right Golden Dawn from becoming a major force in parliament. “If we come out strong there will be mourning in the ‘Euro-clique'”, he said. He continued by underling that the people were not afraid but the system was trying to scare them. On the issue of the refugee crisis Lafazanis said that the fact that millions were waiting on the borders of Greece and the EU was a result of wars and military regimes like that of Assad in Syria.
