The “Left” government of Alexis Tsipras fulfilled the wishes of the Russian tycoon, Dmitry Rybolovlev, and banned the free passage of any vessel in the sea area of Skorpios island.

Skorpios island was bought by Rybolovlev as a gift for her daughter’s birthday.

Following the request of Rybolovlev’s company and the consent of the Ministry of Mercantile Marine, the harbormaster of Lefkada banned the passage of vessels between Scorpios and Skorpidi islands.

Last June Mr. Dritsas, who was deputy minister, had stated that he was aware of the situation and had contacted “with the headquarters of the Port Authority seeking to find an immediate solution, which will serve the needs of the local community while ensuring the safety of all people”.

He had even stressed that “in any case free passage of the boats cannot be restricted”.

However, now Mr. Dritsas, as a Minister of Marine, remains silent.

Therefore, the harbormaster of Lefkada banned the passage of any vessel in the sea area between Skorpios and Skorpidi island throughout the year.

Moreover, following this decision, private speedboats with people of the security of the tycoon patrol day and night the sea area between Scorpios and Skorpidi.
