Non-governmental organizations defending human rights, Amnesty International and ProAsyl, calls the German Parliament not to vote for the new package of measures that Germany’s government has submitted on immigration and asylum policy, according to Die Welt and Die Zeit newspaper.
According to a joint open letter the two organizations mention that “the bill paves the way for asylum seekers’ exclusion and is not consistent with the defense of human rights”, while they estimate that it will create problems on refugees and immigrants integration in German society.
The NGOs argue that the bill must be revised explaining that “The extension of their compulsory stay at the first reception centers for up to six months (…), the extension of the time where refugees are not allowed to work and other measures lead to the exclusion of asylum seekers”.
They also said that what worries them particularly is the measures on refugees from the so-called safe countries according to which these refugees should stay at first reception centers until they are deported, which means forever.
