Archaeologists say that they have found the throne of Agamemnon stating that was probably the most important archaeological find concerning the Mycenaean civilization, as Realnews newspapers states.

Part of the throne of Agamemnon was found within walking distance of the Acropolis of Mycenae. The find, dated back to 13th century BC, is quite big and weighs more than 50 kg.

According to a written statement of the Ministry of Education, this is probably part of a large stone seat.

The professor of the American University Dickinson, Christofilis Maggidis, considers that finding along with three other fragments spotted in various parts of the ancient city of Mycenae may be part of the base or the decoration of Agamemnon’s throne.

This finding is of great importance for archeology and Greek civilization, since it is the first throne of a Mycenaean palace that has been found in the mainland Greece up to now.
