Schäuble warns of refugee ‘avalanche’

"The continuous flow of refugees to Germany and other European countries can become an avalanche," he said

Newsroom November 12 05:44

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble said that Germany may face “an avalanche” triggered by careless actions noting that migration is expanded to European countries and the only thing that can stop it is a common European response.

“The continuous flow of refugees to Germany and other European countries can become an avalanche,” said Mr. Schäuble while speaking yesterday evening in Berlin.

“You can trigger avalanches when a rather careless skier goes on to the slope and moves a bit of snow. I don’t know if we are already at the stage where the avalanche has reached the valley or if we are still on the top of the slope If we are on the upper part of the slope, then the challenging is very big. Germany cannot cope with this situation alone, even if it imposes controls in its internal borders.”
