“The international federation (IAAF) informed Segas that Pigi Devetzi retested positive on a sample taken in 2007. Following this development the federation has opened disciplinary proceedings against her,” said Segas in a statement.

The champion athlete had retired in 2009 after the IAAF had banned her for two years after she refused to undergo a doping test while she was training in Ukraine.

Devetzi woon an Olympic silver medl in Athens in 2004 and a bronze for Greece in Beijing four years later.
