Small decline in unemployment rate for September, says ELSTAT

The number of employed increased by 75,861 persons compared with September 2014

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in September 2015 was 24.6% compared to 26.1% in September 2014 and the upward revised 24.7% in August 2015, according to report published by Hellenic Statistical Authority. The number of employed amounted to 3,626,696 persons. The number of unemployed amounted to 1,184,353 while the number of inactive to 3,266,304.

The number of employed increased by 75,861 persons compared with September 2014 (a 2.1% rate of increase) and by 6,821 persons compared with August 2015 (a 0.2% rate of increase).

Unemployed decreased by 68,806 persons (a 5.5% rate of decrease) compared with September 2014 and by 2,429 persons compared with August 2015 (a 0.2% rate of decrease).

Inactive persons –that is, persons that neither worked neither looked for a job – decreased by 53,466 persons (a 1.6% rate of decrease) compared with September 2014 and by 7,919 persons compared with August 2015 (a 0.2% rate of decrease).
