Greek farmers decided on Sunday to harden their stance and escalate their protest actions by blocking the roads for more hours per day and by driving their tractors to Athens on Friday.

The representatives of 68 road blocks throughout Greece met at Nikaia, Larissa on Sunday to discuss how to coordinate their action and said that they will go to Athens and camp at Syntagma square for at least 3 days depending on the weather conditions.

“On Friday, about 20,000 farmers will arrive in Athens” Larissa’s farmers’ spokesman Christos Sidiropoulos told private TV channel MEGA.

They also decided not to attend the meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday in Parliament which was scheduled by the Minister of Rural Development.
