The Chief of Police on the island Chios, Andreas Damiris resigned, Thursday from his position citing ‘personal reasons’. Sources close to the Damiris say he had complained to his immediate circle that ‘he was fed up with the refugee problem’. Chios and Lesvos are two of the Greek islands that have bore the brunt of the refugee influx for the past 6 months, with thousands reaching their shores. His resignation is pending the approval of his superiors.
