During the parliamentary discussion on the withdrawal of the scandalous ‘offshore’ amendment, leader of the ‘River’ party (Potami), Stavros Theodorakis accused Greek PM Alexis Tsipras of ‘harbouring’ politicians associated with former Greek Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos, who is in prison for embezzlement and bribery.

Tsipras responded to the accusation calling it’slanderous’. Theodorakis alleged the controversial amendment, which allowed politicians to participate in offshore companies, and which forced the government to back down from in the face of widespread criticism, was either ‘a product of incompetence or shifty handling’, calling on Tsipras to defend the initial amendment, if he considered it to be correct or withdraw it after apologising.

Tsipras accused Theodorakis of acting as the ‘wing man’ of major opposition party leader, Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his absence (New Democracy deputies had left the parliament).
