Turkish police have fired tear gas, water cannon and rubber bullets to disperse hundreds of people protesting after an attack on Radiohead fans by a group of Islamists.
On Friday, some 20 suspected Islamists carrying sticks and bottles attacked Radiohead fans who had gathered at the Velvet Indieground store to listen to Radiohead’s new album, A Moon Shaped Pool, according to Turkish media reports.
The men attacked the fans because they had been drinking alcohol and listening to music during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
UK rock band Radiohead have condemned the attack and described it as an act of “violent intolerance”.
