Is Obama’s daughter smoking ‘pot’? (video+photo)

A chip off the old block?

Newsroom August 11 07:37

THE daughter of US President Barack Obama is facing claims she was smoking cannabis at a music festival after a video emerged of Malia Obama appearing to take a drag from a slim cigarette. Radar Online reported that the first daughter, 18, had been caught smoking during a Bryson Tiller set at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago on July 31.
The US gossip site quoted Jerrdin Selwyn, 18, who said: “I caught Malia smoking pot and I have the pictures to prove it. You could smell the marijuana smoke.
“I saw some young guy hand her a cigarette and she took at least one hit.”
The teen also insisted that the young woman held the cigarette for about a minute before handing it back to boy.
Chicago’s state of Illinois has recently decriminalised possession of marijuana of up to 10 grams, replacing the criminal penalty with $100 to $200.
Footage of the teen taken at the festival also shows her dancing up a storm, twerking against fellow festival-goers.
The youngster has already become the focus of media attention after choosing to skip the Democratic National Convention with her parents and instead choosing to attend the music festival.
Malia has also been thrown into the spotlight after being spotted at The Sugar Factory in Amsterdam earlier this year, with Radar reporting that DJ Youri Roest said: “everyone got drunk really fast. I have to admit even I got pretty tipsy later one, but I remember giving one of those girls a glass filled with pure vodka.
“She’s a superb dancer, much like her father. She was very flexible, she has good hips.”
She was also caught up in controversy when a Snapchat screenshot appeared to show the young woman, then 17, at a Brown University party.
According to The Daily Caller, the eldest daughter of the President was playing beer pong and taking shots while at the college.
