Two TV broadcasting licences decided

Announcements will be made after all four are known

Newsroom August 31 08:03

The two first national TV broadcasting licences have been decided, following Tuesday’s long bidding procedure. No information has been leaked as to who the winners of the first two bidding processes are, however, sources say that the final bids reached a high price. Under conditions of a total information blackout that resemble a TV reality show, the procedure of auctioning off the remaining two TV licenses will continue Wednesday, with the final results of all four winners expected to be officially announced upon the completion of the procedures. According to sources, so far the whole process has unfolded without a hitch. The first licence was decided after 8 hours of bidding, after which the parties involved were allowed to take a break to regroup for the second round of bidding. However the participants agreed to immediately continue the process and move on to the next bidding stage, which produced the second winner. The government denied rumours that started spreading about the identity of the first winner, stressing it was impossible to know since there was no way of contacting anyone inside the General Secretariat of Information and Communication building. Based on the program, the bidding procedure for the third license will start a little after 7 in the morning, with the final licence being decided immediately after the completion of the third one. If all runs smoothly, it is estimated that all licences will have been decided by Wednesday evening, or the latest in the early hours of Thursday.
