The Greek government hopes to collect an additional 230 million Euros from extending the supplementary ENFIA property tax on farm plots, while it also expects to make reel in 50 million from excluding 100% of the tax on certain tax categories. It is estimated that the ENFIA property tax will be 180 million more expensive for 7 million Greeks in 2017, according to the statement made by Greek PM Alexis Tsipras at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). As newspaper Naftemproriki notes, this is due to the fact that Tsipras did not explicitly commit to not expanding the supplementary ENFIA to include farm plots and other lands out of the city plan register, or any settlements in 2017, while he made no reference to readjusting objective property values to reflect real market prices.
