Olympiakos was the only Greek team out of the three that managed to record a victory on Thursday night’s Europa League matches. The champions played attractive football in front of their home fans and cruised past Astana with a 4-1 victory. The outcome of the match had effectively been decided in the first half hour, as the reds had achieved an unassailable 3-goal lead (Figuerias 25’, Elyounoussi 33’, Seba 34’). Astana pull one back in the 54th minute, which Seba grabbing his brace on the 65th minute-mark. Panathinaikos feel unlucky they dropped two points at Liege in Belgium, after squandering a 2-goal lead, conceding the equaliser in the 82nd minute. Ibarbo (12’, 36’) scored twice of the greens, but Standard Liege managed to save a point with one goal at the end of each half (Edmilson Junior 46’ (p), Belfodil 82’). Finally, PAOK performed poorly in Azerbaijan and lost 2-0 to Qarabag.
