Greek PM Alexis Tsipras will open proceedings of the annual Euro-Mediterranean Summit in Vravrona, by delivering a greeting speech Monday at 10am. The Summit, which is organised by the European and Greek Economic and Social Committee, will focus on raising awareness on matters concerning citizens in the wider mediterranean basin and ways to address common challenges. The agenda of talks will include promoting legal immigration in Europe, as week as social protection in the region and the role citizens’ society in the upcoming COP22 meeting and women as mediators of job creation in the Euro-Mediterranean area. The meeting will take place at “Mare Nostrum” hotel and a number of dignitaries are expected to attend. Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Mardas is scheduled to deliver a welcome speech on Tuesday. Representatives of economic and social committees, labour unions, social groups, citizens’ pressure groups from 33 countries and NGOs from the Euro-Mediterranean region will take part. The proclamation of the Summit will be dispatched to the political authorities in the Euro-Mediterranean area as a contribution of the social groups.
