In an interview to “Proto Thema” newspaper, the Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), Klaus Regling said the Eurozone was unwilling to focus on the issue of the Greek debt more than was necessary “within the framework of the Greek program.” Regling stressed that wages in Greece would not decline any further, adding that they would actually rise in the future, provided the measures included in the program were strictly adhered to and implemented. “There is a strong commitment by the Eurozone regarding the Greek debt. That commitment is always present, and no specific roadmap is needed”, Regling undefined. The head of the ESM lamented the fact that the 2015 had effectively been lost, but expressed optimism now that the Greek government of SYRIZA-ANEL was finally cooperating with the institutions.
