Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to arrive in Athens on Tuesday, November 1 on an official visit. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a press release stating that matters included on the agenda of talks would be trade, economy, investment and energy cooperation, as well as international affairs and the EU-Russian relations. Lavrov is scheduled to meet with President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Greek PM Alexis Tsipras, and later sign the Greek-Russian Foreign Ministry Consultations Program for 2017-2019 with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias. The two ministers will take part in the 4th Greek-Russian social Forum at the Zappeion Conference and Exhibition Centre, while they will also attend the opening of the exhibition: “Hermitage-Gateway to History” at the Christian and Byzantine Museum. The Russian statesman will be proclaimed an Honourary Professor at the Piraeus University. “The Russo-Greek relations have always been characterised by friendship and mutual understanding”, the press release says.
