German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to meet separately with IMF Director Christine Lagarde and European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker in Berlin Wednesday. According to newspaper Tageszeitung, talks will focus on the Greek matter, with the German Chancellor attempting to iron out the dispute between the European creditors and the IMF on how to proceed with Greece. A German government spokesperson said the meeting with Mrs. Lagarde will revolve around current matters within the framework of the G20 German Presidency. A recent article by German newspaper Die Velt reported that the two ladies had agreed for the IMF to continue backing the Greek bailout program over a phone contact. According to the article Mrs. Lagarde promised Mrs. Merkel that the Fund would continue to participate in the program, while the debt relief matter would be pushed back until after the German elections for 2018. According to Tageszeitung, the dispute between the IMF and Germany is the reason the Greek matter has not been resolved.
