A man has allegedly been arrested after a suspected terrorist attack in central Stockholm. Some reports say a second man has also been detained, while police are looking for a third individual in connection to the attack.
At least five people have been killed in the Swedish capital after a truck drove into shoppers in the busy Drottninggatan area.
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said in a statement that one person had been arrested.
He then added that the attack was being treated as ‘an act of terror’.
However, a spokesperson for Stockholm police said they could not as yet confirm that anybody was arrested in direct connection with the attack.
Multiple photos of a man being detained have been posted on social media, although his identity has not yet been confirmed.
Police have however said that multiple people have been injured in the truck crash in central Stockholm, just weeks after a terrorist hijacked a vehicle and drove it into pedestrians and police officers near the Houses of Parliament in London.
This also follows similar terrorist attacks in Nice and Berlin last year, in which attackers hijacked lorries and ploughed into large groups of people.
