A powerful 6.1 magnitude earthquake has hit off the coast of the Greek island of Lesvos in the eastern Aegean Sea. The tremor was felt in Athens. So far there have been no reports on any injuries. “The earthquake was especially powerful. So far we do not have the exact picture of the damage or any injuries”, said the mayor of the island of Lesvos, Spyros Galinos. According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the epicentre of the earthquake was southeast of the Plomari area and at a depth of 10km. Stay tuned for updates.
